Get Fascist?

Ruthless, demagogic Republican leaders plot to steal the next election while still propagating a big lie about the last one, this while the pandemic still rages, especially in Republican states, and while severe and unprecedented weather affects our planet. Serious people like the current administration (Build Back Better Act) and California leaders are trying to deal with the problems, many made worse by these same Republicans.

This deplorable, even treasonous behavior of Republicans, including incivility, lawlessness, and insurrectionist policies, wouldn’t be possible without money donated by corporation and billionaires, all of which financially benefit through Republican tax cuts and legislation. In effect, the donors provide just millions to Republican campaigns and benefit in the billions, even trillions of dollars. Not a bad investment.

Donors and members of the Republican base also enable disgraceful members of Congress like Marjorie Taylor Greene, alleged child molester, Matt Gaetz, never-charged Medicare fraudster, Rick Scott of Florida, alleged sex-abusers like Brett Kavanaugh and Thomas on SCOTUS, laggards and liars like Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, and many GOP congressional-leader puppets of Donald Trump who everyday support the lie that Trump won in 2020.

Also enabling the insurrectionist ways of Republicans is the Republican base, many brainwashed and seasoned to hate the opposition by media outlets with audiences in the millions of Republican base members: Fox Spews Network, Breitbart, OAN, and Newsmax, for example.

Social media like Facebook and Twitter have had roles, even providing a helpful platform to plan and set up the January 6th insurrection, not to speak of pushing directed hatred of progressives and progressivism from right-wingers and foreign sources like Russia with the use of profit-maximizing algorithms.

Financing and supporting these Republicans, money flows freely from donors who benefit from their policies.  A brief halt by many came after the Republican attempt to overthrow the victory of Joe Biden, though for some the halt was very brief. Corporations like Koch Industries, John Deere, the Florid Sugar Cane league, Toyota, the National Association of Realtors, the National Federation of Independent Businesses, Pfizer, Intel, T-Mobile, CVS, and the National Chicken Council have resumed already.

Many of the contributions are hidden in Dark Money PACs, an arrangement with the blessing of SCOTUS rulings. Most of the right-wing SCOTUS member rulings ditto Republican donor agendas. Radical justices also have ties to the Federalist Society (FS), which raised money for their confirmation and write legislation to suppress non-white voting in Republican-controlled states. Donors funding FS include Google, Chevron, Koch Industries, and the Mercer family.

In addition, decades of outrageous behavior, incivilities, and constant betrayal of behavior norms have debased the offices of congressional representatives to the point that public pressure no longer exists to demand good and honest behavior. Even gross criminal charges or criminal threats by office-holders are advertised for fund-raising from constituents.

Twice impeached Donald Trump has enough Fox Spews media support to raise millions claiming he won the 2020 election. A few years ago, Republicans supported an alleged child molester for a US Senate seat.

Three cornerstone qualities of Republican behavior continue to be displayed daily: dishonesty, serving self, and having no moral compass. Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, continues to manipulate, using the often race-driven power of the filibuster, his minority Republican members in pro-corporate, anti-democratic actions and policies that eschew free non-white voting, investment in people, and advance a partisan agenda, which is basically sabotage anything Biden tries to do for the country.

Mitch’s current project is to oppose Rachel Rollins for a Biden appointment for US Attorney, along with ever-unprincipled (last project: declare martial law for Trump) a vocal Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas. Why? Because she represents competency in dealing with crime, making the GOP Dem anti-law & order rant mute. The repulsive, Texas attack dog, Sen. Ted Cruz, also joined in the opposition to Rollins.

In spite of the Republican war against democracy, Americans might want to prepare themselves for a Republican majority in either or both houses of Congress in 2022. We could easily go from a Congress for the people, demonstrated by the COVID relief bill and hopefully the Build Back Better Infrastructure Act to one thoroughly against the people, an authoritarian hold that could easily turn full-blown fascist.

Republicans are laying plans in a majority of states to gerrymander, restrict voting and even change the vote to achieve this.
