Close to War with Iran?

Close to War with Iran?

There is no other conclusion to draw other than a real cataclysmic event for our future. I don’t mean just in the long run. I mean before the next presidential election.

Brewing is a horrendously dangerous situation in our country. Many enlightened citizens have called for removal of Donald Trump since the beginning of his presidency, as he quickly proved that he is not fit to be president and that his presence is a danger to national security.

That this is true has only intensified over the last three years to a point that his criminality, temperament, and current actions constitutes a clear and present danger.

Most of his actions as president have been foolhardy and dangerous, not the least of which was withdrawing from the Iran nuclear treaty which had successfully stopped Iran’s nuclear development, stopped our economic embargo of Iran and lessened the threat of violence and war with Iran.

No national security purpose was served by his withdrawal from the treaty. In fact, it is quite obvious it was an act of spite against Obama, his predecessor. In fact, his resumption of economic sanctions were even stricter than before, causing more reprisals by Iran, the latest against a Saudi Arabia oil field.

The Suleimani strike demonstrates an action that is downright stupid. Little or no thought seems to be given to the repercussions. It is likely Iraqi leaders will force us to leave Iraq, making the fight against the terrorist group, ISIS, more difficult, something his betrayal of the Kurds already accomplished.

Now, Trump’s Twitter threat to destroy 52 Iran cultural sites is a crime against humanity and constitutes a war crime.

His impeachment and the hang-up caused by Mitch McConnell for his impeachment trial in the Senate clearly shows that McConnell and Republicans in the Senate have no intention of removing Trump from office, let alone having a fair and honest trial.

Trump’s continued in-your-face lawlessness shows it is glaringly obvious that Trump is not just a threat to our democracy but now to our very survival as a nation.

In fact, there are three years of evidence that Republicans value their own seats in the Senate more than they do the American democracy and the welfare of our country and its citizens.

The latest fiasco of Trump, killing Gen. Qassem Suleimani, and Trump’s threat to destroy cultural sites shows a willingness to escalate the violence into full-scale war with Iran.

With media sources such as a totally dishonest Fox News serving as 24/7 Trump apologists, the Trump base is frozen in ignorance, feasting on fake news which denies and obfuscates all of Trump’s criminal actions.

With this media support and the dumbing down of voters, self-serving Republican members of the Senate feel they will risk ejection from their seats if they remove Trump.

The problem is that before voting takes place in November of this year, Trump can do a lot of damage, angry with his impeachment and not curtailed by tribal Republicans.

The current situation with Iran gives us less hope for our immediate future.

Thus, coiled like a trapped rattlesnake, emboldened with the venom of military power, spiteful toward detractors, lawless, and narcissistic, he could use that power to strike a dangerous enemy such as Iran.

Considering the past inaction of Republicans, especially the total ruthless and relentless support by Mitch McConnell, it would be no surprise for Republicans to justify his escalation to war with Iran.

Obviously the Trump family and the families of Republican leaders would not fight in such a war.
