Micheal Moore, Author, Oscar-winning film maker and criticized by some on the right-wing to be the ‘most hated man in America’ (which I thought was the President’s job) has written his Memoir: “Here comes Trouble!”
This “Diary of a wimpy kid” from Michigan is being called, by critics, a “holier-than-thou” or “Jesus like” “anti-autobiography” with “corny interjections”. e.g. “I had an unusually large-sized head, though this was not uncommon for a baby in the Midwest. The craniums in our part of the country were designed to leave a little extra room for the brain to grow in case one day we found ourselves exposed to something we didn’t understand, like a foreign language, or a salad.”
In this book Michael shares stories of a gay neighbor, who suffers so much intolerance that he takes his own life; The guilt Michael had with his mother in possibly choosing the wrong hospital, thus causing her death… and he even goes all the way back to give you his ancestry, birth and days at the seminary where he gets kicked out for asking too many questions. It was a collection of short stories with lots of religious exposures and political views to help you better understand how he became a spokesman for the working class. His thoughts on the war and lessons he learned about religion are really what made him who & what he is today.
Just like “The dairy of a wimpy kid” you get a short story with some sort of justice or moral at the end. For example, when he shared how being hated for speaking his mind took it’s toll on him and that he lost sight of what he was here for. The living in fear and how that fear controlled so much of his life, in essence he suffered much like those he was fighting for. Feeling ‘trapped’ and ‘misunderstood’ he adds an ironic twist. The words of the President, the same man that he had spoken out about who had caused so much hatred, spoke the words that brought clarity back into his life.
None the less I enjoyed this Auto book of “Here comes trouble,” something about hearing Michael read it in his own voice kept the book entertaining. Now knowing his stories from the early years of his life you know that this won’t be the last time Michael stirs the pot! We’ll wait and wonder what injustice he’ll bring to light next. With Michael, there will always be “Moore” Trouble!!
