For Most of Us, Tucker Carlson Doesn’t Need a White Robe and a Pointed Hood

Tucker Carlson said President Joe Biden has aligned himself with sentiments of “The Great Replacement,” which he explained as “the replacement of legacy Americans with more obedient people from far away countries. They brag about it all the time, but if you dare to say it’s happening, they will scream at you with maximum hysteria.”

Does Tucker Carlson even know the real legacy he represents? He certainly is aware of his immigrant heritage of English, German and Swiss-Italian descent. He was born into riches via a father adopted by a tannery worker of Swedish descent. His great-great grandfather immigrated from Switzerland. So is Tucker himself a replacement of a legacy American, his descending from obedient persons from far away, or does he count himself as legacy American?

His media career always went where the money was. His purpose is to influence an audience by pushing an emotional not a reasoned message. He centers his message on emotions like fear, anger, hate, and blame. With the help of a tribal party, Republicans, a corporate culture has already supplied the division, mindful of the old adage, divide and conquer.

Corporations have set our country’s agenda for two generations. Their power and control depend on division and on grasping the bulk of financial riches at the expense of others. Since the late 1970s, with their money and power, crony capitalists have developed separate financial rungs: the very rich, a shrinking middle class, and the oppressed.

The oppressed needed a media voice that provides targets to blame for their lowly status, their loss of power and control. Fox News is that main media outlet. Tucker Carlson has established himself as its dominant voice. The target is “The Other,” primarily centering on immigrants and non-whites.

Drawing that audience in and kindling and rekindling that gnawing fear and blame centers on blaming the other, which are those not like them.

Even more frightening, a trajectory of violence and the use of guns can be traced with right-wing statements and events almost daily: Far-right media like Fox and Republican government leaders, the message of both producing angry voices regarding mask and vaccine mandates to thwart the pandemic.

Second-Amendment rights is referenced quite often by voices like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz. SCOTUS is even leaning toward enabling open-carry of guns that could easily be used for this referenced GOP mission, perhaps another insurrection with guns this time.

There is very little difference between the rhetoric of right-wing media and the rhetoric of right-wing terrorists or mass murderers. The manifesto of the El Paso terrorist two years ago, nightly broadcasts of Fox News, the statements of Donald Trump, or the threat-actions of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Texas governor, Greg Abbott are remarkably similar.

The Fox-Newsmax media types, the Republican Party, shockingly, including long-serving Chuck Grassley, & SCOTUS – wittingly or unwittingly, all seem to be acting in unison to supply motive, theory, firepower, and even Constitutional justification for civil war.

Replacement theory has been around for a long time. Its use is especially dangerous in a time of a sole Republican platform of a 2020 stolen election and justifying insurrection.

Recent use of it by Neo-Nazis on the streets of Charlottesville, VA, “Jews will not replace us.” A past president giving them credence. This same corrupt man is still daily screaming the Big Lie. Then the high-paid voices of hate like Tucker Carlson drawing targets to fear: legions of “the other” assaulting our borders, from Mexico, South America, Afghanistan, etc.

Fox Spews and radical Republicans keep whipping up a frenzy of hate and anger. The message and intention resemble this: Keep fear and loathing hot and ready for that armed battle to wrest control of government from those non-white voters who want to rip away the power of the white masses.

So, it follows.

There’s gold in “them thar hate-casts.” Keep stoking fear. Supply them with more guns. Push open-carry! Republicans have kept the lie intact, successfully carried forward the belief that Joe Biden is illegitimate among the bulk of Republican voters.

Trump intimating — now many Republican — out-in-the-open message of a 2nd Amendment threat. It is endangering lives and playing with fire. The continuing seditionist ways of Republicans, namely the Big Lie, gets little accountability traction with the media and with the American majority.

Of the wireless and plugged in, one tribe is outraged, angry and on a freedom frenzy, the other seeking a sated living, maybe settling for a placated “one” under GOP authoritarian rule.

The current low poll rating of Joe Biden, who quickly rescued us from a deadly pandemic and ushered in economic recovery. It is a rating almost as low as that of Trump, a totally incompetent and corrupt insurrectionist president that Biden replaced – this is what makes our prospect of a recovering democracy seem almost hopeless.

There can be no democracy without accountability for the lawless, Trump and his worst followers. We have born almost a decade of seditionist Republican behavior, followed by an incompetent, uncivil, lawless, even treasonous, GOP president, who had been once again elected by a popular minority.

And he still flashes his corruption in our faces while on nightly sessions of fear and hatred, white supremacists without the pointed hoods support him.

How long will we bear it all, and when will we recognize competency vs miserable demagoguery and incompetency in leadership?
