There are 3 likely scenarios for the Biden classified documents debacle: 1) Biden was so haphazard in handling and supervising the use of classified documents that they were left in personal places in his domiciles. 2) Trump party operatives were paid out of the mostly-corporate largesse he and the GOP still gather to help normalize misplacement of classified documents, thus taking the heat off his criminal mishandling of classified materials. 3) A combination of the two.
The most likely is 2 with a light smattering of 1. Why? The very nature of the Republican Party and increasingly with Donald Trump’s entry, therein, is operations above the law, blatant subterfuge, dirty tricks, and even criminal break-ins.
Of course, in the modern era, Watergate is the beginning of the latter – and, without accountability, any activity that yields victory: like Willy Horton, Qanon, Pizzagate, Russian social media cybercrime, doctored videos, the Tea Party apparatus financed by the Koch Brothers.
Then Trump got more serious with gyrations to steal the 2020 election, ending with a coup to overthrow the government. For decades, the GOP has had permanent dirty tricks employees like Roger Stone, pardoned by Trump before Trump staged a coup attempt and left office.
Increasingly since the late 1970s, money has become less and less of a problem in financing subterfuge, dirty tricks, especially with the infrastructure to build corporate and GOP control.
With a corporate culture strong-armed into the picture — media, SCOTUS, & an authoritarian GOP — we now have Dark Money threading through strategically-hidden sutures. There’s the secretive networks of GOP party operatives financing a Kanye West 2020 3rd party presidential run, Leonard Leo’s Dark Money funds buying radical SCOTUS candidates who do GOP bidding, and then rewarding Kellyanne Conway’s help by buying her Creative Response Concepts, Inc. business for several million dollars. And that’s just the tip of corporate-financed manipulations coursing through our culture.
Still testifying to Trump’s strength, aided by his prolonged freedom from accountability, is his sedition caucus in the House, also still free to officiously sink the financial strength of the United States.
So, it’s would be no stretch for Trump operatives to salt classified documents in various Biden residences to make his stolen classified documents crime seem petty, not that Biden didn’t goof too.
At any rate, Trump has successfully normalized his crimes in the public office of the presidency for four years and most of his adult life before that. Why wouldn’t he continue undermining democracy to regain authoritarian control, using grifted public funds available through fraudulent public political solicitations and through the Republican Party.
A con man’s grifting only ends with accountability, so anything he can do to continue criminality, especially stamping it with normality, makes Trumpism work.
