The Power of Positive Thinking

The Power of Positive Thinking

Positivity is the keyWhat is Positive Thinking??

Positive thinking is an optimistic attitude towards life-events in general. Once understood and applied correctly, positive thinking can yield amazing results on your attitude, life, and your overall experience!

See the equation of life is quite simple; everything starts in our mind, then manifest into our physical life. And as simple as it may seem, people are still struggling day in and day out with that concept. So if you are one of these people or just looking to increase your overall happiness then continue reading this article.

Let’s dissect the equation further, our experience starts in our mind first. What does that mean? It means whatever we think about, we bring about. So if we think about good things, good things happen to us, and the opposite is the same. I am sure you are going to say well that’s BS why would I create a not so pleasant experience for myself, well, as insensitive of me to say as it may sound – it is you that is brining that to you and you might not even know it. See when you are afraid that something bad might happen or an unfortunate situation might occur you are actually giving that idea the fertile soil to grow, and it starts like that, you start dwelling over how bad it might be, how horrible if it did happen and you just keep thinking over and over about that experience, so your mind starts to think, well he/she is thinking of that so much, then he/she must really want it to happen and then BAM, sh*t hits the fan. Your mind want to proof that you are right so bad, that the unpleasant situation happens just to stay in line with your thinking.

So what’s the solution? Well I have listed below few ways to practice that will increase your positive thinking:

Positive self-dialog: as crazy as it may sound, we all do it. We always talk to ourselves. So next time you find your mind playing that game, enforce your will of positive self-talk. It is quite simple, whenever your mind is thinking about something negative, gently, remind yourself that you are in control and replace that thought with something positive. It goes like this: Mind: who are you kidding, you’ll never get that job, You: now mind I am a talented man or woman and if that job is not for me then there is one out there reserved just for me.

Identify your negative-thinking-triggers: these are moments, events, people, or subjects that just triggers our minds to just get so negative and spiral out of control. For me, I always struggle when the subject of politics become the center of the conversation, I have personally seen what politics can do to a country from my upbringing overseas and it just reminds me of the suffering, the hurt, the pain that I and many others endured. So whenever politics is discussed I have to remind myself that this is my negative-thinking-trigger and by keeping that in mind I carry on with the conversation and try to change the subject or exit the conversation gracefully.

Surround yourself by other positive thinking people: this one is quite simple, of you are on the right frame of mind, the same like-minded people will find you and surround your. However, few might infiltrate by chance or by force and you don’t have to worry, it’s quite alright, just be sure your limit your time spent with these people to the minimum and never, yes, never indulge them in lengthy negative contestation, because then they have engaged your mind and you have let their negativity take over you.

Now with practice, your mind is like every muscle, it will learn that positivity is the way of life and you will enjoy some of the most important benefits of positive thinking. Below are just a few:

  • Positive thinking increases longevity.
  • It lowers stress and boost the immune system.
  • It makes coping with unpleasant life-events easier.
  • It helps you in adapting to change swiftly.
  • It brighten your overall life experience.

In summary, negativity is never good for you or those who are surrounding you. So, do yourself and your loved one a favor and stop yourself every-time you find your mind wandering into an unwanted terrains and take charge of that asset that’s called mind and let it work for you and star live a long, stress-free life, at least for the most part.

Cheers,

ZVB
