A Philosophy Of Patriarchy: ‘The Male Disease’ by George Carlin

Thankfully, times are progressing but we’ve still got a long way to go. Many of the suppressed can be grateful to liberals for this as they’ve been uniquely instrumental in going to bat for equal rights. If it were up to most traditional conservatives we’d still be living back in 1950’s when men dominated in nearly every meaning of the word and woman simply did what was expected of them or what they were told; from cooking dinner and cleaning the house to raising the kids and providing sexual pleasure (almost always enjoyed by the man only, of course). And, guess what woman got if they tried to rebel from any of this male dominated, patriarchy? Yep, that’s right – they were physically or verablly abused, beaten up, and forced right back into line. Anyone from the older generations know this.

Unfortunately, the Bible fosters this view of patriarchy “Man shall be head of the household” and ironically, many woman actually leverage the bible as credibility for this view and will unbelievably fight against their own interest to keep this system of domination in place.  — ‘Because the bible says so.’

Here’s a great example by Sam Harris, in his 2005 bestselling book, The End of Faith…

“Tell a devout Christian his wife is cheating on him, or that frozen yogurt can make a man invisible, and he is likely to require as much evidence as anybody else, and be persuaded only to the extent that you give it. But tell him that the book he keeps by his bed was written by an invisible deity who will punish him with fire for eternity if he fails to accept every incredible claim, and he seems to require no evidence whatsoever.”

Harris fails to mention the downside of being an Atheist — you have nobody to cry out to in the throes of an orgasm, ha!

Thankfully these behaviors of power-control dynamics have and are being identified and there is a slow paradigm shift away from traditional christian/conservatism…. but like I said at the top, we’ve got a looong way to go.
